Don't Poison Yourself at the Dinner Table

We all know that it's important to eat whole foods: vegetables, fruit, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, lean protein. At the same time, it's just as important to avoid or limit foods that contain unhealthful ingredients.

When you purchase foods with toxic ingredients, you are literally poisoning yourself & your family!

We need to read food labels and ingredient lists carefully. But, it's also important to know what to look for. One great rule of thumb: if you can't pronounce it, it's probably not good for you!

Here's a partial list of some of the ingredients you should avoid or limit:

• Artificial colors
• Artificial flavorings
• Artificial sweeteners
• Fat replacements
• MSG
• Hydrogenated oil
• Sodium nitrite
• Brominated oil (added to some carbonated drinks)
• white refined flour (this may also be listed as "wheat flour" or "enriched wheat flour")
• refined sugar
• salt/sodium
